About Us

The second floor of 10233 97th Street, also called the “Shoctor” building, or, as it sits above the old Family Drugs Pharmacy, “the Family Drugs Building”, has been used for art studios since 2006. In 2025, after changes in building management, a re-negotiation allowed the current cohort of artists to lease the space directly. This shift provided us the opportunity to come together, share ideas, and make exciting changes. These efforts led to establishing Family Drugs Gallery, a grassroots artist-run exhibition space converted from an old studio, managed and supported by the studio artists (Family Drugs Collective). Family Drugs Gallery will open in 2026, hosting exhibits by Edmonton-based visual artists and engaging arts events.

Our Mission

Family Drugs Collective is a group of visual artists creating artwork in downtown Edmonton, on the periphery of the “arts district”. Our mission is to care for and maintain the Family Drugs studio building, run Family Drugs Gallery, and nurture a unique and independent Edmonton arts community.

Family Drugs Gallery is an artist-run exhibition space dedicated to presenting exciting contemporary art with a focus on Edmonton-based visual artists. Guided by a collective of emerging and established artists, curators and arts workers, our mission is to utilize an ultra-DIY spirit to offer creative and experimental arts presentations in the heart of downtown Edmonton.
